After many weeks working with the archive department of the National Portrait Gallery the copyright on the Search4Data facility on the Printsellers Association and Fine Art Trade Guild publications has been granted to the NPG to ensure the research our Archivist developed is safe for the nation
Our thanks to Malcolm Douglas who made the transfer of data possible
Many artists from across the UK paid tribute to Norman Neasom, a Redditch artist who died on 24th February at the age of 94. His passion for art and his extraordinary talent influenced many budding artists during his lifetime.
Norman was a watercolourist, a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and will be greatly missed by his friends including our own archivist who has been a friend of Norman’s for nearly 50 years.
A Review by John Hughes (Honorary member of the Fine Art Trade Guild.
This book offers a unique insight into an extensive collection of prints and proofs produced by Archibald Thorburn (1860-1935). Not only will the book undoubtedly appeal to Thorburn collectors and those generally interested in countrywide pursuits and wildlife but it also shows the advantage of research for those members of the Guild who deal in, no matter how occasionally, secondary embossed editions. The quality of the prints produced during Thorburn’s prolific career is astounding and is an excellent demonstration of what could be achieved by the very skilled, but manual techniques and printing processes around the turn of the century. The Printseller’s Association, and later, the Fine Art Trade Guild had a strong connection with Thorburn and their archives have provided invaluable information for this publication.
