Levy, Emmanuel

Born in Manchester 1900 and studied in Paris and at the Manchester School of Art. He was art master at Manchester University department of architecture and lectured at Manchester and Stockport College of Art during the 1950's and 1960's. His first exhibition was at Manchester City Gallery in 1924. Besides paintings hanging in the National Portrait Gallery during the 1970's he created a series of 12 large paintings entitled "The Chessmen", which is now in a private collection in Germany.
